A look at the R58 million ‘mansion in the sky’ up for sale in South Africa
A four-bedroom penthouse in Sandton, Johannesburg, is on the market for R58 million.
According to Lynn Estates, the 3-level penthouse comes with a view of the skyline and features state-of-the-art technology, such as a glass elevator servicing all floors, and bespoke finishes.
The first floor’s three bedrooms come with their own views of the city and full en-suite bathrooms.
The master suite also has a private lounge area that opens onto the outside patio, while its “spa-like” bathroom is complimented by its own walk-in closet.
The second floor has a double-volume ceiling and chandelier and features open-plan living and dining areas. It also comes with a built-in bar and a home theatre.
The open-plan kitchen comes with a separate scullery and cold room.
The floor has a cigar lounge/study area while also housing the guest en-suite bedroom.
The third level features private roof-top garden terraces, a lap pool with deck and pool loungers, pergolas with retractable canopies and indoor and outdoor sitting areas with built-in bar.
Other features of the property include air conditioning, four basement parking and high-speed fibre.
There is also 24-hour security with a guard house and controlled areas.
The greater Sandton area is well-known to house South Africa’s affluent.
The latest African Wealth Report 2024 by Henley & Partners and New World Wealth showed that 12,300 of South Africa’s 37,400 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) – those with a liquid wealth exceeding US$1 million (roughly R18.61 million), are found in Johannesburg.
“Most of Johannesburg’s top-end wealth is concentrated in the suburbs surrounding Sandton City Shopping Centre, which has been dubbed ‘the richest square mile in Africa’,” said the report.
“In particular, the Sandton suburbs of Sandhurst, Hyde Park, and Inanda are all home to large numbers of HNWIs.”
